New Solid Edge Integration Now Available

As of Sept. 1, 2026, PEP Technology fully supports Solid Edge integration alongside SolidWorks and Inventor. Manufacturers using Solid Edge can now move from CAD assembly to cutter-ready path with one-click automation built for faster, more accurate production.

With the Solid Edge CAD interface, your team can display a drawing or assembly, click the PEP icon and create finished parts in seconds. PEP extracts Solid Edge CAD file and assembly data, filters non-sheet-metal components, unfolds one occurrence of each unique part and connects seamlessly with the PEP CAD Converter for automatic CAD conversion for Solid Edge files.

The integration also analyzes unfolded CAD drawings for geometry errors, fixes issues like short lines and bend reliefs, and saves cutter-ready paths for production. This Solid Edge nesting software delivers faster processing, fewer manual conversion steps, no interim DXF file to maintain and a direct path from CAD data to production-ready parts.

PEP’s CAD to nesting software integration connects supported CAD platforms with finished cutter paths ready for your machines. For Solid Edge users, the new interface adds the same one-click workflow already available for SolidWorks and Inventor.

The PEP software analyzes and processes Solid Edge files by automatically:

  • Extracting all Solid Edge CAD file data and assembly data.
  • Filtering data for items to be cut and ignoring non-sheet-metal components.
  • Instructing Solid Edge to unfold one occurrence of each unique part.
  • Interfacing seamlessly with the PEP CAD Converter, enabling automatic CAD conversion for Solid Edge files.
  • Analyzing unfolded CAD drawings for geometry errors, fixing those issues and saving cutter-ready paths.
  • Creating kits for future use in Bullet or WIP nesting.
  • Exporting BOM data to ERP or quoting systems in text, SQL or Access format.

The unfolding and conversion are fully automatic!

PEP analyzes and exports the entire assembly, converting only the parts to be cut. Your team can focus on sheet metal parts without sorting through screws, hinges and gaskets.

The seamless integration removes the need to maintain old DXF files, helping your team keep every cut aligned with the current part revision.

When 3D CAD files are unfolded, CAD products like SolidWorks, Inventor and Pro-E often replace radii along a bend with short line segments and add less-than-ideal bend reliefs. PEP finds and fixes these geometry issues automatically.

PEP Technology automatically finds the short line segments in the 2D part and replaces the lines with a single arc.

Another CAD Converter error-correction feature is the automatic detection of bend lines and insertion of bend reliefs. Optionally, scribe the beginning and end of each bend line automatically.

  • PEP extracts the revision, material and required quantities from the BOM automatically.
  • PEP saves the assembly as a “kit” for use by Bullet or WIP. The kit name matches the CAD assembly and includes all sheet metal parts, materials and required quantities.

  • PEP’s drawing database supports engineering and shop tracking software automatically.
  • The PEP Drawing Database makes retrieving, editing and reporting every detail pertinent to the design, development and cutting of the finished part a simple task.
  • The access SPEED is equally impressive. The user can locate a single PEP drawing by name, customer, work order, material, etc. in 2 seconds. Clicking on the drawing name allows the user to edit the PEP Geo file or open the connected CAD file. The system can bring up the 3D CAD file within 3 to 5 seconds typically, even when sorting through 200,000 CAD drawing files.

PEP’s Fully Automatic SolidWorks, Inventor and Solid Edge Interfaces Include

  • Bidirectional seamless access to supported CAD platforms, with functionality available by integration. PEP’s drawing database stores the location and date of the SolidWorks CAD file for each converted part. The PEP drawing database allows the user to click on the PEP drawing name and edit either the PEP Geo file or the connected 3D CAD file.
  • The revision history of every 2D drawing.
  • The drawing certification, documenting every error correction of the 2D part.
  • The nest history, including the nest name, cut sequence, material inventory number, heat lot number, cut sequence on the sheet, etc.
  • Optional unique serial numbers engraved on each part (Great for nuclear, military work).
  • The ERP data (work order, customer, date, revision, etc.) used to cut the part.
  • The Inventory material number and heat lot number the part was cut from.
  • Remnants created from Inventory plates (again with heat lots) and parts cut from those remnants.
  • The current and past schedule, including time of day and machine used to cut the part.
  • QC paperless access to dimensioned PEP drawing (geo file) for inspection and certification.
