The W.I.P. program is a work in process module for jobs that are to be cut in the shop. W.I.P tracks the status of jobs through all phases by utiizing the P.E.P. databases.  The W.I.P. module is interactive with MRP and front office systems. Regardless of whether the information is loaded automatically from the MRP software or the user defines the work to be done using job criteria such as due date, W.I.P. organizes and initiates the job process. As the job proceeds through each stage, each P.E.P. module updates the W.I.P. database automatically.

NOW YOU CAN track YOUR jobs to be cut by all of the following criteria:

W.I.P. Does All of the Following Jobs Automatically:

The tracking functions update the W.I.P. database on a continuous basis, insuring that the data is current and accessible to the user at all times.   W.I.P. produces nested part programs and reports based upon the nesting criteria selected by the user.

W.I.P. Interacts With Other P.E.P. Software Modules

W.I.P. works in conjunction with these other P.E.P. modules to track and allocate jobs to be cut:

P.E.P. Module

Description

Draw: the CAD drawing module within P.E.P. used to create P.E.P. drawings.
CAD Converter:   the conversion module used to convert CAD drawings into P.E.P. drawings.
Automatic Nesting: takes P.E.P. drawings and nests them automatically
Manual Nesting: repositions, re-sequences, assigns lead-in/out’s, common cuts & chain cuts nested parts
Plate Inventory:  tracks full plates and remnants from the time they are entered until they are used up.
DNC:  the communications module is used to transmit programs down to the shop.

W.I.P. Benefits Multiple Departments Within YOUR Company

W.I.P. interacts with multiple departments within your company to make the jobs easier, less time consuming and more productive.

The Programmer

W.I.P. enables the programmer to be more effective and to do the job easier. Each day the programmer will use the W.I.P. program to produce a report that lists the drawings that need to be programmed that day. This insures that the parts scheduled to be cut the next day, will always be programmed. As the programmer creates each of the drawings in P.E.P., the W.I.P. module will automatically be updated. The programmer’s job is more organized. The programmer will have a prioritized list of drawings that are to be created, without having to be told what to do. W.I.P. is updated automatically as drawings are created.

The Shop Scheduler

W.I.P. will make the scheduler’s job easier, more productive and will simultaneously computerize the tracking of jobs for fast retrieval of any job’s status. The scheduler can use the W.I.P. program to display or print reports of all types, such as: the status of the on going work, work to be completed; by due date, type of material, location, etc., review archived customer orders. Create nests using the W.I.P. parameters shown . If desired, the scheduler can combine orders of the same material type into a single nested program.

  • After the scheduler defines the nesting parameters, W.I.P. automatically:
  • Copies the drawing(s) into a program to be nested.
  • Advances to the Automatic Nesting program.
  • Displays the drawing name(s) and quantities in Automatic Nesting.
  • Sets the parameters within the Automatic Nesting program to the correct material type and thickness to produce reports in Nesting.

Benefits to the Scheduler:

  • The scheduler can learn the status of all jobs very quickly.
  • The W.I.P. program assures that parts having the highest priority will be nested on time.
  • The W.I.P. program interacts with the Automatic Nesting program so that there are no transposing errors when entering the drawing name and the quantities to be nested.
  • Multiple orders with the same material requirements can be combined into one nest.
  • The combining of orders will produce better utilization from each nest.
  • There will be less restocking of remnants by combining orders.
  • Improves efficiency, time management and production.
The Sales Staff
  • Obtain information on the status of a customer's order.
  • Review previous orders.
  • Categorize sales prospects by material requirements and location.
  • Determine whether there are orders to be cut of the same material that might be combined with another order. In some situations it might be possible to combine orders, increasing the yield and eliminate restocking.
  • Nest parts for quoting jobs (requires P.E.P. Shapes and Nesting).
  • Produce reports for quoting jobs (example: # of plates and part data).
The Management

By pulling your operation all together, W.I.P. helps management by:

  • The programmer, scheduler and sales staff will be more organized and therefore more effective.
  • The status of the in-house jobs can be retrieved more easily and quickly.
  • Orders will be less apt to be lost.
  • Delivery times will be improved.
  • Sales will improve with the better estimating of orders.
  • Sales will be quoting more accurate delivery times.
  • There will be better customer relations with the quicker feedback.
  • Management can analysis the work in process history by week, month, etc.

NO MATTER WHAT YOUR TYPE  OF operation YOU HAVE,  W.I.P. Works for You!

The W.I.P. module has custom capabilities designed into the software that support each of the following job applications:

Steel Service Centers one of a kind and repeat orders.
Manufacturing  products and subassemblies.
Job Shops   one of a kind and similar type parts.

Streamline Your Production

Let the P.E.P. W.I.P. module take the guesswork, errors  and frustration out of your job scheduling and production. W.I.P will streamline your operation from the sales room to the shop floor!
