Software Technology Matters - Automatic Tooling with P.E.P.
Parameter #23 - Fix shallow
line-line intersections
Geometry # 457 & 602 shown as red dots below are two line segments that intersect. The intersect point of the lines is angled upwards into the part. Reference the angles of each line in the chart. When parameter #23 is set to convert shallow line-line intersects the software will replace the two lines with one line connecting the opposite ends of the two lines. In this case, the new line ends up being drawn at 0 degrees because the original two lines had the same starting and ending Y dimension.
Naturally, any geometry that is moved or changed will have the geometry number, the type of error and the action taken stated in the error report.

Parameter #25 - Force alignment of blends The fact that arc segment #454 was changed to a line does not eliminate the tooling error shown on the first page, however, as the geometry is analyzed the software will find that the arc preceding and following geometry #454 are within the acceptable range to blend the geometry making the preceding arc and following arcs tangent. Naturally, any geometry that is moved or changed will have the geometry number, the type of error and the action taken stated in the error report. Each of the TAN (tangent) locations circled in red in the
picture to the right were actually intersections that the P.E.P. software found
and fixed automatically. |
