Fully Automated Manufacturing Software by P.E.P. Technology
P.E.P.'s fully automatic manufacturing software will extract Work Orders, Inventory and CAD drawings from your CAD, MRP/ERP or spread sheet software and then create finished post processed nests ready to be cut on your machines in minutes! Besides being automatic the machine productivity and material yield is guaranteed to save your company hundreds of thousands or you pay nothing. Best of all, our 30 plus years of writing CAD software allows us to complete the entire interface in hours, not months regardless of the front end and engineering software your company uses.
The following is an example of the bi-directional P.E.P. capabilities that were developed for the FabTrol MRP software. The software interface to your product will be similar to the one discussed below.

Automatic Converting of Multiple Parts from a FabTrol Kss file
P.E.P. extracts, saves and renames each part with a unique drawing name comprised of the Job Number, Production Sequence, Release and Assembly information. Example: P101 becomes <D-1269-SEQ 098 RA1-P101>. In addition to saving the newly created drawing file, each part name along with other pertinent drawing information is automatically placed into the P.E.P. Master Drawing Database. In most cases a single KSS file containing as many as 300 unique parts can be opened and each part converted to a finished cutter path and saved as a P.E.P. drawings in less than 2 seconds per part.

Part Text marking is Automatic
The P.E.P. software supports printing attachments for machines and machine text cycles such as etching, scribing and punch marking.
When extracting the Cad drawings from the KSS file in the automatic mode part numbers saved within the Cad drawing will be identified automatically and saved with the proper machine output. Cad drawings without part numbers will be assigned part numbers automatically or interactively depending upon the way the software is setup to run.
When running in the interactive mode and a part number is not on the drawing the software will stop the automatic mode, display the part full screen, place the drawing number at the center of the screen and go into a floating cursor mode so that the user can manually locate and size the part number. Once the part number is located on the part the software will return to the automatic mode.

Heat Lot numbers are added Automatically
The P.E.P. software uses the same text marking / machine interfaces described previously to mark heat lot numbers.
When extracting the Cad drawings from the KSS file in the automatic mode and heat lot numbers are required to be put on the individual parts, the software runs similarly to the interactive mode for adding part numbers. The software stops and allows the user to locate a P.E.P. generic heat lot number ( example Heat Lot = <heat>. Having the generic number on each part allows the user to nest the parts and then replace the generic number with the actual number before sending the nest to the shop. The process of replacing the generic number with the actual heat lot number is completely automatic. The user selects the plate, enters the heat lot number one time for that plate and they are done. The software replaces the generic number located on each part in less than 1 second per part.
In cases where the heat lot number is known the software treats the heat lot number as it would a part number and there is no interaction required by the user.

Automatic Nesting of Parts
P.E.P.'s automatic nesting software has been developed in-house over last 20 plus consecutive years. Our approach to nesting is unique, yet similar to the kind of results a programmer would get if they had an unlimited amount of time to manually squeeze every part they could on a plate. The P.E.P. approach is to mathematically compute every possible way of nesting the parts with an emphasis on columns and rows. We have learned that the best organized nest will also produce the best material yield. So when you see a disorganized nest you should know that your wasting 10 to 15 percent of the material. Whether your nesting 500 unique parts, one of each, or 100 unique parts having required quantities that vary from 1 to 1,000, every P.E.P. nest will be done in less than one minute and the finished nest will look like they had been done manually.
There are other reasons P.E.P.'s nests look different. P.E.P.'s nesting engine develops nests specific to the application whether it be Lasers, Gas, Plasma, Waterjet, Combo Machines, Punch, Roller Feed, etc. If you are unfamiliar with how a nesting engine works you will find it interesting to see the differences between nesting bottom up and top down, and intentionally nesting for common cutting. P.E.P.'s nesting engine does all of this without any operator interaction. In fact, the user does not even select the mode, the software analyzes the parts and switches modes automatically.
Steel Fab multi plate nests like the one below for a Franklin or Peddinghaus type roller feed machine can be created from a FabTrol KSS file, nested and lead-ins assigned automatically in less than 2 minutes per plate.
